Wisdom Gained @ IMT

This is a small article which I wrote just before leaving IMT. Its been a while, but I just remembered about it a few minutes back. And thought this blog would be the ideal place to put it up. After all, this blog is about my life. :)

Today’s Learning

A 19 year old girl fresh out of school and just entering college taught me something I had completely forgotten. We were chatting over Yahoo Messenger and, in her own words (verbatim), this shook me up:

ID: c opportunities dont cum knockin
ID: u hv 2 luk 4 opportunitites

Not something I didnt already know. But maybe I didnt really believe it. So here goes. I am hunting for opportunities now. Opportunity beware!!! :)

Perfection and Love

I read this somewhere today. And was totally taken aback. Its not my favorite quote yet. But its somewhere up there.

“Who says you have to know everything? Who told you that you have to be perfect or no one will love you? It’s time to identify those old judgmental voices and break the power they have over you. Don’t blame. Move on.”

Personal experience(s) tell me the more “perfect” you try to be…the less love you get. As I said somewhere before in a totally different context, humans were meant to be imperfect. And they should be proud of their fallacies. After all, thats what makes us human.

What do you think?

Homo Economicus Vs Homo Sociolus

Economics is defined here as:

The study of choice and decision-making in a world with limited resources

You would assume that anyone’s choices are based on rational factors and logical thinking. This article on Value Research Online, however, touches on some of the totally ignored aspects of Economics. The author, Mr Pandya, relates economics and money matters to family, family values, emotions, and back to economics. Isnt that unbelievable?

Of course, there has to be a balance between the “Economicus” and the “Sociolus”. Otherwise, there would be no economics in the first place. Its not all about emotions. And its not all about money and power. Its a bit, and ONLY a bit about both. Keep that in mind when you read this, and when you make your “logical” decisions.

Astrology Expert. Who…Me??

People have started thinking that I am an expert at Astrology. Now I am getting requests by mail to read into people’s lives and provide solutions to their problems. Never thought that would happen.

Anyone who has read and understood astrology like it is meant to be, knows that the solutions dont lie in astrology. They lie within yourself. They lie inside your being and spirit. If there are boundaries, they are created by you. If there are barriers they are created by you. If there is stress, it is created by you. So important to realize that.

But even when you do realize that, it becomes quite difficult to actually do something about it. Knowing that everything is created by you, it still requires a lot of courage and strength to break out of imaginary cells. Life can be hell for some and heaven for others. All based on what they make of it. Not on what they get, but what they create out of it. You may be given broken pieces of glass that cut your fingers, but if you can use them to write a letter in blood, then you have made perfect use of them.

The essence: everything depends on what you do; not on what others do. Astrology just tells you who you are and what you can be. It never takes decisions for you. Decisions are your own. And they are what make you or break you. Right decisions take you higher, wrong ones take you higher still.

Enough from me for one day?? Being so philosophical has its own disadvantages as well. High thoughts come at a price. Most of the times people think you are crazy. Imagine…a IT Pro with a Masters degree…and practising astrology!!! What the %^#$%#!!! Doesnt make sense does it?? Well what does??

Philosophy gone haywire!!!

Just as ladies have their times of the month, I have my times of the month, just that they occur more unexpectedly. Strange but true. Being a fully grown man, I still end up trying to figure out some of the most basic questions of life. Today, Vijay has been kind enough to grant us our wish of having dinner at home. So I thought I would be “kind enough” to share with you what goes through my head when I have my “periods”.

Its not about who we are and who we want to be. Its not about how much we have and how much we owe. Its about something larger and yet tinier at the same time. Its about something past, present and future. And most importantly, its about something which drives us…something which compels us to do what we actually do. You think you decide your future?? Think again!!! The question that eats up most of my energy and keeps me ever hungry…

What is the purpose of one’s life?

I know thats a tough one. Infact a very tough one. So many researchers and philosophers have tried to come up with an answer for that one, and quite a few have. But no ONE answer has been convincing enough for the entire humankind. No one answer is generally accepted as a “fact”.

If you seriously have the patience, go through this.

So where does that leave people like you and me? It leaves us right where we started. At the origin. Most of us on our own have tried to find answers in religion, spirituality, and philosophy. Others have take a more radical step and joined occult tribes and sorcery, thinking the answer lies there. I am not too sure. After all this is my blog. I think the mystery can be solved if we can figure out how this universe was created, who created it and when? Easier said than done!!!

I know this is complete bullshit to most of you, but thats just what I think. And if any of you have thoughts of the same wavelength, please write me. I would love to hear from you.

As time passes and I read and research a little more on this, I will update this post with links to other research works on this subject. And I hope you enjoy reading them.

Fatwa…Spirituality…Soul…Heaven…Hell…:)

Just yesterday, me and Dinesh were looking for the meaning of the word “fatwa”. No particular reason, just a curiousity. And as curiousity killed the cat, it killed us. For what we were looking for was lost in the wake of what we found finally.

Google pointed us to the meaning of the word on Wikipedia. Whats that you ask? Well its something that will baffle you for the rest of your miserable life. Why? Because it has no fixed structure and grows like the mushroom cloud of a nuclear bomb!!! No one owns it and yet it belongs to everyone. Its not here or there, but its everywhere. And the best part is, it can entertain you and make you think at the same time. One of the very few open community projects that I must say is a GRAND SUCCESS!!! The other one that comes to mind immediately is of course Google Earth.

Once we started exploring it together, we found it exhilarating. Everything we read pointed us to a thousand other pages. Which direction did we want to take was the question. Slowly but surely, we moved towards spirituality and the soul. And we found we were floating in thin air…trying to find our feet. Odd but true. Truly a spiritual experience. And I hope I have many more.
